Dear Lord,
You see the hearts that mourn not only for people,
but for every living soul You have made.
Today, we remember Harambe,
not just as a gorilla,
but as a symbol of innocence caught in a broken world.
He did not choose the cage.
He did not choose the bullet.
But he bore it in silence.
We ask You, O Lord of mercy,
to receive Harambe into the peace of Your creation,
where there is no fear, no captivity, no death.
May his spirit swing freely among the trees of Eden restored.
May we, the living, learn compassion,
and fight for a world where such tragedy never repeats.
Heal the pain we feel.
Bless those who cry for him still.
And may his name echo as a call:
to defend the voiceless,
to protect the innocent,
and to never forget.
Amen.

Hey Harambe,
I don’t know why it still hurts.
But it does.
You didn’t deserve what happened.
You were calm.
You were watching.
Maybe even protecting.
I’m sorry they didn’t see that.
I’m sorry no one stepped in.
No one gave you a chance.
You were more than a story.
More than a joke.
More than what the world turned you into.
I just want you to know…
I haven’t forgotten.
I still think about what should have been.
The life you were meant to live.
The peace you were meant to have.
The world failed you.
But some of us still remember.
Some of us still care.
You mattered.
You still do.
Harambe wills it.
And I remember.
Amen.
